About Us

DogsnHomes was established by Gary and Michelle Baxter in 2019, following years of extensive rescue work, both at home in the UK and abroad. Their vision is simple, to rescue dogs from suffering and carefully match them with their forever families, so they can live out their best lives here in the UK.

DogsnHomes relies not only on adopters, but a vital network of fosterers and donators too. We welcome your enquiries and support in all three of these areas, please see the dedicated sections for further information: Adopt, Foster and Support Us.

If you do decide to get in touch (and we hope you do!) we will do our best to respond to you within 48 hours; if it takes a little longer, please bear with us.

DogsnHomes is staffed purely by volunteers with all resources focused on rescuing and caring for the dogs. What’s more, for every dog adopted we will fund the neutering / spaying of another in a bid to reduce the numbers of unwanted pups born each year.

How It All Began …

Lifelong animal advocates, Gary and Michelle, began their dog rescue journey with the Soi Dog Foundation in Thailand, deciding to take action after learning of the unspeakable horrors of the dog meat trade.

The intention was to spend time in Thailand offering practical help and, with two dogs of their own at home, there was no intention of adopting another at this point; having been allocated to the ‘puppy run’ this was always going to be a challenge!

Sure enough, after four days of volunteering, they discovered a puppy hiding in a concrete pipe who they learned was named ‘Smoocher,’ the only one of his litter to survive being drowned in a roadside gully. He was 12 weeks old, very sick and afraid of people. Worried about how he would cope long-term in the shelter, Gary and Michelle made arrangements for him to return to the UK with them.

This was the beginning of the journey into dog rescue. After returning to the UK and building up over five years’ experience of rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming dogs, DogsnHomes was founded in 2019.
